A third generation Japanese born in Hawaii, Curtis grew up loving Michael Jackson and copying his dance moves. In junior high, he learned guitar and within a year, formed a band, learning to appreciate that special 'something' that happens at a live music performance. Dancing is all about moving your own body, but when you sing, you try to move your audience. To reach out to people through the the passion in his voice became Curtis' inspiration to start out as a professional singer.
