Information What is Japan Music Week?

Japan Music Week (JMW) is an international music conference and festival held in Tokyo around Shibuya area during November 4-13, 2011. We aim to support music artists and businesses by featuring showcase performances, seminars and networking events that bring people together from different regions, genres and industry sectors. A discount entry wristband system allows free entry for fans and industry to over 100 events, and discount entry to many more events (at 50% off, or 20% off the public entrance price). 'Discount entry' wristbands priced at 2500 yen advance, 3000 yen on door are valid for the week, and some events are free to the public. Many events are themed on regions such as France, or New York, or a wide range of music genres from classical and jazz to punk rock and techno. Overseas artists are generally able to play at three or more events of different types, including some with local artists that attract a Japanese fanbase.

Japan Music Week in 2009 and 2010 involved over 300 artists from 20 countries at 40 venues across Shibuya and surrounding areas in Tokyo. Overall over 10,000 audience attended, including artists and music industry, from Japan and overseas.
